What to see and do in the wonderful Aruba Island

Aruba is an island in the Caribbean: a continuous succession of white sand beaches, beautiful stretches of coast and waters of a wonderful turquoise color. We are about 29 km from Venezuela, towards the north-west, in a dream area that is ideal for everyone’s holidays. Aruba and its attractions are good for the spirit, for the eyes, for the mood. And one of the advantages is that getting to the area is not difficult at all: there are many flights that take you to this magical area, many of which stop over in Amsterdam.

Beaches in Aruba

Imagine a place where the sand is as soft as silk and white as snow, and the sea takes on a thousand shades of blue, green and blue. A place where silence reigns, and relaxation is one of the favorite activities of tourists and inhabitants. Here, this fabulous place is Aruba!

Here there are truly unique beaches in the world: a gem is that you will never burn your feet, because the coral crystals help keep the temperature of the grains not too high. This is a peculiarity of Eagle Beach, where you will observe the so-called Fofoti Trees: the symbolic trees of Aruba, which due to their particular trunk seem to almost bow and indicate the Caribbean.

Eagle Beach, Aruba Island

This beach, by virtue of its shallow waters, is excellent for families with children. Another Aruba pearl is Dos Playa, in Arikok National Park. As you can understand from the name of this gem, the area is made up of two beaches: dividing them is a steep rock, which drops sheer to the ocean. Winds are rarely not intense, which is why this spot is a favorite of those who enjoy surfing, wind-surfing and other similar sports.

We would also like to point out the beautiful Mangel Halto: an excellent destination to immerse yourself in an atmosphere of quiet. Nature is pure and uncontaminated, the waters are clear, the climate is pleasant at all times of the year. A paradise for snorkelers, and for all visitors in general.

What to see in Aruba

Continuing the discussion on Aruba and its attractions, what else is there to see on this magnificent island? We suggest you spend at least a couple of days in the capital, Oranjestad: literally “orange city“, so called for the warm and bright shades that distinguish it.

Obviously, the 12 km long coastline of Oranjestad is fantastic, but structures such as the Neoclassical Cathedral of Sant’Ana are also to be admired. Stop at the Archaeological and Numismatic Museums. Stop at Queen Wilhelmina Park, conceived as a tribute to the Queen of Holland who oversaw the expansion of the center. Earlier, speaking of Aruba’s beaches, we mentioned Arikok National Park. This is also a must on a trip to Aruba.

Aruba view

In reality, this immense green space covers 20% of the total area of the island: a riot of limestone and lava sculptures, foliage that offers shelter to birds, caves to explore (such as that of Quadirikiri). An emblem of Aruba is the California Lighthouse, 30 meters high and surrounded by lush gardens. Without forgetting the stone formations of Casibari, a paradise for those who practice trekking.

A natural pool in Caribbean sea

Aruba is full of fairytale natural pools. Pools of water bordered by rocks, where bathing is a real pleasure. These jewels are not always easy to reach, which will make your stay even more adventurous and exciting. Follow rugged and wild paths to reach, for example, the Conchi Pool of the Arikok Park. A sight like this is absolutely memorable!

From what we have told you, you will have guessed that many activities can be carried out in Aruba. You swim, of course, and you dive; you take the sun, and you get a wonderful tan. This destination, however, is also perfect for lovers of sports such as surfing, diving and snorkeling, as well as sailing trips to discover sensational coasts.

In Aruba there is birdwatching, walking for a long time, resting in comfortable hotels. You can even organize a jeep safari, in the aforementioned Arikok National Park, among the masterpieces of nature and the historic gold mines.

Sea sport in Aruba

Let’s not overlook another important aspect: what do you eat in Aruba? Here you will taste the classic Caribbean dishes: the keeshi yena (chicken seasoned with a sauce), the funchi (polenta and cheese), the spicy shrimp and those breaded with coconut, the fritters (fried shellfish balls served with pink sauce).
